- Cleanup and preparation of areas.
- Replace using quality electrolytic capacitors.
- Retest (Video via RGB and Composite, Audio, Floppy Boot, CF Card boot).
Common issues recapping may solve:

- Guru errors or random crashing
When you receive your freshly recapped motherboard back
Once your board has been returned we strongly suggest testing the board before adding any accessories or putting it back in any shielding (if it was sent without its metal shielding) or case. Many issues arise when the board is then subjected to add-ons being added or put back together without first knowing the board was working in its bare minimum state (PSU, Video/Audio only).
We offer 14 days from delivery to notify us of any issues with your recapped board of which we will send you a returns label so we can recheck our work. We do randomly take videos and photos of recapped boards to showcase our work to share on social media and other outlets. Return shipping is calculated at the checkout including £100 cover for loss or damage and we only use tracked services.
A little bit more about our Amiga recapping service and us!
We have been recapping Commodore Amiga computers since 2016 and have recapped over 400+ customer boards and 200+ of our own refurbished Amiga units, so you can rest assured that your board is in very safe hands.
We use the correct tools and methods for removing old SMD and through-hole capacitors avoiding unnecessary stress being applied to the motherboard or the copper pads themselves.
We offer ultrasonic PCB cleaning service where by the motherboard is bathed in a 60 °C deionised water bath combined with a PCB cleaner for 3 mins and then naturally dried for 24 hours. Results will vary depending on the condition of the board.
When you receive your board back, you can rest assured your board will be in the best condition to allow you to install any upgrades you have in mind, weather that be a new TF1230, TF1260, PiStorm32-Lite or a simple 8Mb Ram card.
And lastly, each board will have a sticker put on with the month/year it was recapped, what type of service was used and if it has been refurbished (ultrasonic clean) or repaired.
Work is on a 3-4 week turnaround from delivery.

CA-PSU Amiga A500, A500 Plus, A600, A1200
CA-PSU Amiga A500, A500 Plus, A600, A1200 (CA-PSU stands for Compact Amiga Power Supply Unit), where “compact” designates the three target computers A500, A600 and A1200. It is the first power supply on the market that fully complies with the original Commodore specifications, introducing cable drop compensation for best regulation that even settles the voltage drop in the input filter of the target computers. This means that the voltage on the main 5V rail will never deviate more then 0.9%, measured inside the computer – no matter if the computer is in vanilla configuration or heavily expanded. Conventional power supplies will either supply too-high voltage to a vanilla machine, or too-low voltage to an expanded machine, causing malfunction or even defects. This cannot happen with our cable drop compensation technology.
Technical data in short:
- 5V, 5A, ripple/noise 50mV max. (typically 30mV)
- Overload on 5V tolerated up to 8A for 30 seconds
- 5V load regulation <0.6% typical, max. 0.9% under overload condition
- 12V up to 4A
- -12V, 0.1A
- Modern, high-efficiency DC-DC converter technology
- Total output power up to 60W
- Fanless, silent, extremely low heat
CA-PSU is a two-brick solution: One mains-connected power brick and the CA-PSU converter box with the switch and square 5-pin DIN connector to the computer. This moves the power switch a lot closer to the computer, reducing the probability of inadvertent switching, for example if the power supply is under the table near your feet.
CA-PSU has the best overall efficiency on the market, with a worst-case efficiency of 80.1% (best case >82.5%). The best competing product peaks at just over 70%, and some original Commodore power supplies have an efficiency of only 55%. This means that with our CA-PSU, there’s less total heat, less power consumption and a longer life expectancy because there is less stress on the components.
Naturally, CA-PSU features over-voltage protection – every modern power supply does. We wouldn’t consider it worth mentioning, but this protection is part of a more complex block to protect your valuable classic gear: There are two critical moments that need to be taken care of: Switching on and off. CA-PSU has a controlled 5V ramp-up when switching on, ensuring safe power-up of heavily-expanded machines. Traditional power supplies without such a controlled start-up ramp tend to “swing in” to the target voltage, which might cause malfunction or even defects. Further, switching off will start a short timer, ensuring that the next switch-on event can’t happen until a few seconds after switching off. This ensures that capacitors in the computer and expansion gear are sufficiently discharged, and switching on won’t cause 3.3V regulators of modern expansions to oscillate, which may cause severe damage.
In the unlikely event that these elaborate precautions fail, CA-PSU is covered by a German product liability insurance.
This new production run of CA-PSU includes an international power brick that directly plugs into the socket (no mains cable). International adapters included are:
- Central Europe
- United Kingdom
- Australia
- USA
CA-PSU is compatible with worldwide grid voltages and frequencies (110-240V AC and 50 or 60Hz).

Indivision AGA MK3 Flickerfixer for A1200 and A4000T
Indivision AGA MK3 for the A1200 and A4000T* (Not A4000D Desktop) providing both a VGA connection or HDMI so you have the flexibility of using a CRT/LCD PC monitor with VGA or a large TV with HDMI in.
All Amiga screen modes are supported and can be sent to a digital or analogue monitor at almost any frame rate (with the exception of A2024 monitor modes). Either using standard VESA modes or using custom output frequencies and size at the user’s choice. Even custom screen modes like HighGFX can be used. Workbench resolutions of 1280×1024 pixels are possible without buying a dedicated graphics card.
Indivision AGA Mk3 is plugged over the Lisa chip and a second connection over the CIA chip to route keyboard signals to the flicker fixer. You can now make small adjustments to the output picture format including positioning and resizing of the output picture without the need to load the configuration tool. You can simply open the on screen menu using a hot-key combination make adjustments with the keyboard or mouse and then exit this live configuration menu, all this without leaving the game or demo that’s currently running.
Output screen modes can be saved “per input screen mode”, so you can adjust your favourite Workbench resolution perfectly, while not affecting the settings you’ve chosen for PAL and NTSC games. Settings are saved in the flash of the flicker fixer, so they survive a reboot and/or power-cycle of the computer this allows you to “zap” through pre-sets that are ideal for a specific game or demo. With this you can adjust on the fly different settings for the built-in scanline effect, or you can compare the scaling capabilities of your monitor with the new built-in scaler of Indivision AGA MK3.
The Indivision also has automatic monitor recognition, the configuration tool can detect what size of monitor is connected and make suggestions for ideal output frequencies that are within the specifications of the monitor. This reduces the “first setup” to a matter of minutes, maybe even seconds if you’re using one of the pre-sets for popular display panel sizes that we provide.
What’s included:
- Indivision AGA Mk3 for A1200/A4000T(*)
- Adapter board for high-definition digital (HDMI) and VGA output
- Adapter board for CIA chip
- Connection cables between all boards
- Short instructions
In addition, you will require:
- Screwdriver to open your computer
- A way to transfer the configuration tool (free download from our wiki)
- HighGFX software package from Aminet (free download for higher Workbench resolutions)
(*)This flickerfixer will not fit into an A4000T out-of-the-box. Component CE164C gets in the way of the output cable connector and must be replaced with a lower-profile version prior to installing the flickerfixer. We recommend to do this before you order the product.
Note:
** We don’t support or advise the use of the Meanwell PSU or its variants unless its an original Amiga PSU l that has been recapped (better), AT PSU or the CA-PSU. The primary reason is the PSU is the heart of the Amiga and reading the Individual Computers forum, the PSU is the 2nd item to question if there are issues. The number one issue is the socket on the Indivision is not pushed down enough as it does require a lot of pressure. Full explanation regarding the PSU is here
