What is Refurbished? Each Commodore Amiga A500 mainboard is professionally recapped and deep cleaned using a Ultrasonic cleaner, bathed using deionised water and professional grade PCB/Flux cleaning solution. Once completed it is dried and a full diagnostic test is completed. Each unit is thoroughly inspected make sure the Amiga 500 worked as it did when it first came from the factory back in the 1980’s.   What is Ultrasonic cleaning? Ultrasonic cleaning is a process that uses ultrasound (usually from 20–40 kHz) to agitate a fluid, this fluid is made up for this specific job which is to clean and remove any flux left over from recapping. We use deionised water (deionized depending where your from) and professional grade PCB cleaner.

NOTE Cases may have a 520 STFM Badge but all our Atari STFM will have 1Mb of ram minimum.   What is Refurbished? The Atari STFM mainboard has been professionally recapped PSU. Each unit is thoroughly inspected and tested including:
  • Full Keyboard check.
  • Floppy drive read and write test.
  • Sound checked.
  • Video checked.
  • Case and keyboard is stripped and cleaned.
We can also perform the following Atari STFM fixs if required - ask for further details
  • 10K pull up resistor network to the DMA databus.
  • 1772 Pull up Resistors added.
  • STFM Reset fix 22uF added across C100.
  • Bus resistors replaced with 2.2k resistor arrays.

Atari 520 STFM / 1040 STFM recapping service including recapping of STFM PSU, all board revisions. This service includes both recapping of the Atari STFM motherboard and PSU.
  • Check of the STFM motherboard and PSU before recapping is begun.
  • Removal of existing capacitors.
  • Clean-up and preparation of area.
  • Replace using Panasonic/Wurth/KEMET capacitors.
  • Retest (Video, Audio, Floppy Boot) using diagnostic cartridge.
We also provide a recapping service for the  Atari 520 STe / 1040 STE / 4160 STE and Atari 520 STF / Atari 1040 STF   What do you need to send? All we need is the mainboard and PSU, so please only send the board and PSU in its metal shielding. If however you choose to send the whole unit, there is an option to do that also via the choices below.

Amiga A4000 PSU recapping service - NOTE this is NOT a repair service.
  • Removal of existing capacitors.
  • Cleanup and preparation of area.
  • Replace using Panasonic/Wurth/KEMET capacitors.
  • Test output voltages (not under load)
Recapping the Amiga A4000 PSU is a good preventive measure, the reason being these capacitors are under alot of stress (which they are designed to take of course) however with age they start getting tired which could lead to issues later on. All that needs to be sent is the Amiga 4000 PSU itself.

  • Replace all surface mount capacitors using Polymer capacitors.
  • Replace 2 x Axial capacitors using high quality standard electrolytic capacitors (these are not available in axial form).
